In the Town of Whitby, Ontario, standards: Yards must be free from garbage, rubbish, long grass/weeds exceeding 15 cm, inoperative vehicles, wrecked machinery, dead shrubs/trees, noxious weeds, injurious insects, and unsafe conditions.; enforcement: Property Standards Officer may issue an order; if owner fails to comply within set time, Town may carry out the repair or clearing at the owner's expense plus a 25% administration charge (max $5,000), recoverable by legal action or addition to the tax roll..
