In the City of Thorold, Ontario, standards: No unsightly object (used lumber, rubble, inoperative vehicles, debris, indoor furniture/appliances) stored outside in any front, side or rear yard; yards kept free from health/safety hazards.; enforcement: Officer issues order to repair or clear; City may carry out work at owner's expense; lien on land deemed municipal taxes; fines up to $50,000 first offence, $100,000 subsequent.; standards: No waste, refuse, litter, standing water, noxious weeds above 200mm, inoperative vehicles, indoor furniture, or motor vehicle salvage on property; enforcement: Officer may order cleanup; if non-complied within time specified (8 calendar days reasonable notice), City performs remedial action at owner's expense; cost added to tax roll as municipal property taxes.
